Stealing Home

Will the Ump Get the Call Right?

Stealing Home

Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Timmy who loved playing baseball. He was a great player, but there was one thing that made him incredibly nervous – stealing base.

Every time Timmy was on base, he would get anxious about the idea of running to the next base. He was afraid of getting caught and being out, which would make him feel embarrassed in front of his teammates.

One day, Timmy’s team was playing in the championship game, and they were tied in the ninth inning. Timmy was on first base, and he knew that stealing second base could be the key to winning the game.

As he stood on first base, he could feel his heart racing. He looked over at the pitcher, who was staring him down, and he knew that he had to make a move.

Timmy took a deep breath and started to run towards second base. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest as he ran as fast as he could.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of the ball hitting the catcher’s glove, and he knew that the pitcher had thrown the ball to try and catch him. Timmy slid into second base, and he could feel the dirt on his face as he hit the ground.

He looked up and saw that he had made it safely to second base. His teammates were cheering and clapping, and Timmy felt a sense of pride and accomplishment.

From that moment on, Timmy was no longer afraid of stealing base. He had faced his fear and had come out victorious.

As the game continued, Timmy’s team scored the winning run, and they were crowned champions. Timmy felt like he had played a crucial role in the victory, and he knew that he had overcome his fear of stealing base.

In the end, Timmy learned that sometimes, the things that scare us the most can also be the things that bring us the most joy and satisfaction. He was grateful for the experience and looked forward to many more games of baseball in the future.

Choke Up and Swing – a story

Choke Up and Swing

Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Timmy who loved playing baseball. He had been practicing for weeks for the big game against their rivals, the Tigers. Timmy was a great player, but he had one weakness – he was always nervous about getting a hit.

As the game began, Timmy’s nerves started to get the best of him. He watched as his teammates hit the ball and ran to the bases, but he couldn’t shake off the feeling of anxiety. He knew that he had to get a hit if they wanted to win the game, but the pressure was too much for him.

The first few innings went by, and Timmy still hadn’t gotten a hit. He struck out twice and hit a foul ball on his third attempt. His teammates tried to encourage him, but he couldn’t help feeling like he was letting them down.

As the game entered the seventh inning, the score was tied, and Timmy was up to bat again. He took a deep breath and stepped up to the plate. The pitcher threw the ball, and Timmy swung with all his might. The ball flew through the air, and for a moment, Timmy thought he had missed it.

But then, he heard the sound of the ball hitting the bat, and he knew he had made contact. He dropped the bat and ran as fast as he could to first base. The crowd cheered as he made it safely to the base.

Timmy’s nerves disappeared as he realized that he had finally gotten a hit. He felt a surge of confidence and knew that he could help his team win the game. He watched as his teammates hit the ball and ran to the bases, and he knew that he could do the same.

The game continued, and Timmy got another hit in the ninth inning. This time, he hit a home run, and the crowd went wild. His teammates lifted him up on their shoulders, and he felt like he was on top of the world.

After the game, Timmy’s coach congratulated him on his performance. “You were nervous at first, but you didn’t let that stop you,” he said. “You kept trying, and you finally got a hit. That’s what makes a great player.”

Timmy smiled, knowing that he had overcome his nerves and helped his team win the game. He realized that sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of courage to achieve great things. From that day on, he never let his nerves get the best of him again.
