Almost Done

I started working on the Brill Wingfield series a couple of years ago, but didn’t publish it.  Why?  Blame corporate America.

My job working as a Director moving up the company ladder made it easy for me to ignore the stories I wanted to tell.  There was always something else to do, or some other run to make.

Never mind that I still scribbled down story ideas, and I still wrote.  I just never finished any of the novels.

Flash forward to this year: September 2015.  I started writing full time.  I had to balance freelance work to bring in the cash against building my body of work on Amazon.  I’d pull up a Brill story, crank out a thousand words or so, then get locked into other work.  When I came back later, I’d grab a new Brill story, add to it, and get lost again.

What that left me with are ten almost complete stories.  Which I lined up to finish in April. NO DISTRACTIONS.  No other work to pull me away.  Just me and the retired hitman living in Florida writing down some adventures.

CONSCRIPTED comes out on April 1, followed in short succession by SHADOWBOXER, DECREED, DISAVOWED and ATTACHE.

Each can be read as a stand alone, and chronologically take place in different times of the assassin’s life.  CONSCRIPTED is the very first Brill story, though the most recently completed.

It tells the tale of a young Brill recruited by a Senator to spy on his exchange student girlfriend in South Africa.  During a humanitarian trip, they’re kidnapped and tortured by rebels.  He watches her die before they can be rescued by mercenaries.  Brill vows revenge and works with the mercenaries to earn the right to hunt down the men who tortured him and killed his girlfriend.

It’s a short novel so you can pick it up and read it fast, and is a great intro to the character who you can get to know better in the series.

I also published two AUTHOR MOONSHOT guides with lessons I learned moving from an emerging author over the past year to an employed author now.  Great for any new writers or folks who have been struggling to get their sales to levels they can actually live off of.
